Summer's here...

We have been busy swimming, playing, family walks in the evening, etc.. The kids are really enjoying their summer off from school because this is the first time in two summers that we have not had to play catch up. Homeschooling and deputation was brutal because there were so many things to get you off track! With furlough closely approaching I am looking to simplify our school year and have it not be so rigid.

We enjoyed a wonderful vacation to the coast of Croatia in June. I will try to post pics later. It was beautiful!

Happy summertime! :)

Take a peek

Here is a little peek into our life in Croatia and what you can find us doing from time to time. We sure don't have time to be bored around here. There is always something to do.... (:

(Sunday) we baptized three, which is not usual in Europe, but God is working. Two visitors have come again for the second time. (:

(Monday) is grocery shopping day in our house. My surprising find of the day was bagged crushed ice!!! I didn't
buy it, but hopefully they will still carry it when we need to fill the cooler.

(Tuesday) I was in the kitchen yet again making Rice Krispies treats for English class. I never made them in the USA!

(Wednesday) we were found in the cherry tree after homeschool picking bright red, sweet, and delicious cherries. Our Wednesday night church service ended the day.

(Thursday) seemed to fly by! Two loads of the never ending laundry basket were washed and hung up to dry. Our house stayed incredibly cool today,(I have learned a few tricks from my neighbors). Dinner was eaten without whining tonight! :)

(Friday), I woke up to finding out my friend Robin is going to be induced today. She is having a little girl after having 3 boys in a row!

(Saturday) was super busy today! The girls did a little school.(I know that sounds mean, but we do want to have a free summer.) We also had neighbors over to pick cherries from our huge tree. I tried to speak as much Croatian as possible. Thank goodness they are so forgiving because I know that I really messed up some words. Our week ended with a fridge full of food for church tomorrow for Friend Day. We are praying that God will give us a great day with many visitors and hearts drawn closer to Him.

Spring and a few other things

Spring has sprung here in Croatia! Everything is blooming and just beautiful. I love longer days and having the fresh air come through the windows. We just planted a little garden of things we've been missing- okra, butter beans, and pickling cucumbers just to name a few.

Life has been busy here in Croatia. We just finished up a wonderful missions conference with Dr. Smith. Kevin has recently started teaching English to many Croats who have shown interest. It has been a wonderful opportunity to share Christ. We are excited for the opportunities the Lord has given is to serve Him here.

Spring has also brought is a new little furry friend into our family. We welcomed little Cubbie into our heart and home. He is already house broken and has his passport and chipped. Cubbie has been very good for the most part. He is having to adjust to hearing us speak to him in English and broken Croatian. We love him.

Summer will be here before we know it. Yay!

A bunch of "stuff"

The last time I posted was before Christmas, and yes I realize that my Christmas background is still gracing my blog. That's okay because the tree in our house stayed up for a whole month after Christmas! We seriously waited for a package from the states for a month. It was from our church, so it was special and we wanted it to feel Christmasy when we opened it. Christmas was perfect this year, everyone got just enough I think. It was good.

February is quickly flying past us! I don't know where the time has gone. Lots of thingsare happening here in Croatia though and I hope to update more in the coming weeks. Our family has been busy with school and language school, and life in general. Life in Croatia is simple. We are not always running to this place and that like in America. Our town is small also, so there is not much to do anyway. I can't wait for it to warm up so the kids can go outside to play. They are ready for a change in their routine and the sun always changes grumpy moods.

On a sad note, the kid's kitten was killed a week ago. They were really upset for a few days because Tigress was their little friend to play with. I know we're only talking about a cat, but she was special to them. They are doing much better now and are looking forward to finding another furry friend. We are just waiting for the right time. (:

That's it for now. In the meantime, the background is changing and hopefully I'll update you guys a little more often.

It's almost Christmas!!! (wow)

I can.not.believe that Christmas is just around the corner! Really, where did our year go to? It seems like we were just digging into all of our Christmas decorations that had been stored away while we were on deputation.

Our tree is up and the house is slowly turning into a marvelous sight with signs of Christmas everywhere. This is my most favorite time of year and the kids as well. It's not about the getting and recieving, but remembering WHO this holiday is all about. I will be the first to admit that WE BELIEVE Jesus is the reason for the season.

I also believe in making memories with my kids... and yes they still believe{wink, wink}. Christmas is for having fun and I would never take that away from them. This year we are going to count down the days til Christmas with an advent calendar. I have always wanted to do this, but it never really worked out until now.

My idea:
25 stockings

25 scriptures leading up to the birth of Christ

Fun things to do:a treat, craft, something to bake or make, something to do for someone else

a Christmas movie each night: We loved watching 25 Days of Christmas when we lived in America. This year we are making our own line up. (:

This year my goal is to not STRESS OUT over Christmas. I found the neatest website here to tackle that.

I'm so glad I found these ideas this year!Hopefully you will find them helpful as well.

Good Preaching from our Pastor in CROATIA!

Our pastor came to visit us at the end of September in Croatia. This was his first time preaching with a translator. I think he did really well..... I'm a little biased though. (: I hope that you enjoy. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
